About Brian

A quieter note about me.

I am based in Nairobi, and I spend a lot of my time thinking about how useful software gets made: the taste, the patience, the small decisions, and the care it takes to turn a rough idea into something people can trust.

I like building things that are calm on the surface and solid underneath. The kind of work I enjoy most sits somewhere between product thinking and engineering discipline: noticing what matters, removing what does not, and making the remaining pieces behave well.

I have always been drawn to tools that give people a little more agency. A shop owner placing an order, someone writing through a difficult week, a person tracking their money privately, a team trying to understand what is happening in the field. Those moments are ordinary, but they are exactly where software either earns trust or loses it.

A lot of that taste comes from the things I love outside work too. I am an avid gamer, and I have a soft spot for custom PCs, fantasy worlds, and difficult games that make you learn by paying attention. Souls-likes are an easy yes, but I also play Apex Legends and still have a long-running attachment to Dota 2.

When I am not at a screen, I like taking walks, listening to music, and reading. I also spend a lot of time tinkering with AI tools, following where the field is going, and figuring out how to use that momentum thoughtfully in the products I build.
